Ubuntu Tasks – No More Sheets

Although most of the UI components in the Ubuntu SDK have been getting many visual improvements, the Sheet is one component which has not, and even has a message in the UI Toolkit Gallery saying “The visual style of the Sheet is early work and thus clunky looking.” However, that message has been around for a long time.

I originally used Sheets for the Add Task sheet and Statistics sheet, but Nekhelesh Ramananthan, one of the App Showdown judges, suggested that I convert these to using pages on the page stack, and here’s what they look like:

qmlscene: mainView_037 qmlscene: mainView_038

A wonderful improvement in my opinion!

On the backend side, I’ve also been investigating using QtOrganizer to store the tasks, which would ensure a stable API so users don’t have to worry about their tasks being incompatible with the latest version of Tasks and so it could easily share tasks with other apps such as Calendar.
